Active Blogs
As I said before, this site has no official connection with the school. What is written is the responsibility of the poster. I will trust in the judgment of the posters as to appropriate topics and content. If you have a question, complaint or praise, please get in touch with the poster directly (they all have their emails listed).
Thanks and let's have a great year.
The responsibility for the material presented in these blogs lies with the poster, not necessarily the Webguys ( webguys@mruhs.org ). Teachers are still bound by confidentiality rules, regardless of whether they are posting here or LiveJournal or Blogger or some other site. If there is something that fails the
FERPA
test, you need to contact the teacher, student or parent who posted it. If you can't achieve a resolution that way, send an email to both the Principal and to us and we'll see what we can do. The First amendment does not stop at the classroom door, but FERPA does place some limits on it.
My goal is for faculty to be able to post upcoming homework lists, project lists, lab report templates, excel files for class use and other such material for class. Parents and boosters would be able to put up game information and fund-raising brochures. Negative comments are not appreciated, but allowable if the tone is constructive criticism. Consequences will still be consequences, however, so everyone should be aware of what they write.
Photographs will be limited in the following ways: teachers are asked not to post photos of students in the classroom, but may post pictures of projects and classrooms. Photos taken at public events such as athletics and shows are fine, with the exception being made in Theater/ Band concerts where the request of no flash photography has been made or where copyright violations are possible. General Rule: if the Rutland Herald can publish it with a name, so can you.
